Fall 2026 Brass Band Auditions

Please read the following...

  • Spring 2026 auditions for the JMU Brass Band will take place August 25 & 26 in Professor Stees’ studio, Music 230.
  • Please pre-register your interest to audition on the band’s website at below..
  • You will be sent a link to signup for your audition time on August 24.
  • You are strongly encouraged to audition on brass band specific instruments (soprano cornet, cornet, flugelhorn, tenor horn, baritone). If you need an instrument to use for auditions, please contact Prof. Stees asap to schedule a time to check one out.
  • Auditions will consist of 2 prepared selections. Swedish Hymn (Graham) and Etude #3 (Bousquet). You are expected to prepare each piece in its entirety. (See the link provided below to download the music.)
  • Audition selections should be prepared as close to indicated tempi as possible.
  • Audition results will be posted on the bands website by 5:00 pm,  August 27.
  • The first rehearsal will be Friday, August 28.
